Hothouse cucumbers are grown in a hothouse under artificial light, rather than in the field. Thus, the name “hothouse cucumbers.” These cucumbers differ from the field or table variety—they’re known for their elongated, thin, round shape. They have a thinner skin and have a sweeter flavor than those grown in the field. Hothouse cucumbers are burpless and are packed with Vitamins A, C, K and potassium. They can be used in a variety of ways and recipes—everything from used raw for salads and dips, to cooked, grilled and or as a side dish for fish, meat or poultry.

Yes, hothouse cucumbers are a reliable source of potassium. Although, I find it really funny how some dogs can become obese or have to be on a diet. Like how do they get to that point?

Beautiful. I grow cucumber inside and we have so many I don’t even know what to do with them. I’ll consider preparing for the dogs as we have 4 of them. Hopefully, it doesn’t give them trouble as they can be selective with what they eat.

I wish my own dogs were half selective. Those 2 can eat almost anything they come across and that has made me stop taking them out. We always end up having them vomiting or with an upset stomach. But I’ll try the cucumber delicacy. Looks like something they would like.

I particularly enjoy these crunchy vegetables and won’t mind sharing with my puppy. She’s on a diet, and since it’s a healthy low-fat and low-cal meal, we will stick to it.
