Horseradish is a spicy root that’s popular in parts of Europe, in the U.S. and even in Japan. In Japan, wasabi is often made from horseradish, rather than the wasabi plant. In the Czech Republic, and some other Central European countries, the root is sometimes grated and eaten raw with mustard or paired with some smoked meat, such as sausage. Other people use the grated root in deviled eggs, homemade mayonnaise (if you like it spicy!), etc.

Can my dog eat horseradish? Horseradish isn’t toxic to dogs; however, it’s not recommended that you give your dog horseradish. Can my puppy eat horseradish? No, puppies should not eat horseradish. Most dogs don’t enjoy such spicy foods, and this root can cause your pup to develop digestive problems, including vomiting, diarrhea, etc. If your dog ate a small bit of horseradish, he should be OK. Even so, avoid giving this spicy root to your dog.

This is interesting! I just got introduced to this spice recently and was going to feed it to my dog. Thankful to have found this article. I’m not even going to let him eat it at all.

Horseradish is too spicy for dogs. Better to avoid it entirely so you don’t have any problem on your hands. Most dogs can react quickly do some things so it’s better not to even give them something their body would not like.

Yeah and most dogs don’t enjoy spicy foods, especially as this root are really spicy. Not to mention causing your pet digestive problems like vomiting and diarrhea.

I love eating the roots raw with some smoked meat because it’s an amazing combination. But when I just gave my dog a bite seeing as it’s meat, it did not end well. Just keep the horseradish as far away from your dog as possible.
