Italian dressing does contain some ingredients that can be harmful to dogs. These ingredients include oil, sugar, onion, and garlic. However, your dog would have to drink quite a bit of salad dressing to get sick. If your dog has one or two licks of Italian dressing, chances are he will be OK.
However, if he drinks an entire bottle of dressing, then he could become very sick.

You may notice these symptoms if your dog has drunk Italian dressing:
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
In most cases, these symptoms should not last longer than 24 hours. If they do, then it’s time to call the vet. Repeated bouts of diarrhea and vomiting can cause dehydration.
The good news is that your dog should make a fast recovery if he ate too much Italian dressing! As always, prevention is the best medicine. So, be sure to keep Italian dressing away from your dog. Don’t leave salads or other foods left unattended, or your fur baby may try to help himself!
