Should You Leave Your Dog In The Dark?

Mushrooms are fungi and come in many varieties; they grow all around the world. Some mushrooms are edible, while others are poisonous. With commercially grown mushrooms, you won’t have to worry about them being toxic. Mushrooms sold in the local grocery store are generally safe to eat. Mushrooms are low-calorie, and packed with nutrients including B vitamins, niacin, selenium, copper, potassium and more. Mushrooms can be added to meat dishes, soups, salads and more—they’re quite versatile.

It’s recommended that you avoid feeding your pet wild mushrooms, unless you’re knowledgeable about which wild mushrooms are edible and which are poisonous. Even then, it’s best to avoid possible accidental poisoning of your dog, and just stick to serving him an occasional store-bought mushroom. If you serve mushrooms to your fur baby, make sure they’re clean and cut into bite-size pieces. And just for good measure, it doesn’t hurt to cook them. You can add them to his normal dogfood, or even give him an occasional slice as a treat. What if my dog eating too many mushrooms? It’s hard to know which wild mushrooms are edible or poisonous especially if one’s not familiar with farm areas. So it’s only best to go for store packed ones always. I think I have learned a priceless tip today.

I’ve once fed my dog wild mushrooms and I’m not really sure which it is. But I used it to prepare meat dishes. We couldn’t rest that evening after he ate it because he became restless and was vomiting. I never suspected it was the mushroom but when the vet came, I realised that he is not okay to eat mushrooms.

Ohhhh. Sorry about that. Yeah, dogs can eat mushrooms but it has to be one that is not the poisonous species. Even humans who eat it may not feel too good. I hope your dog felt better after the vet attended to him.

I feed my dog mushrooms because he actually loves it. But even at that, I do that with some caution so that my dog won’t react to it.
