Komatsuna is a green leafed vegetable that’s common in Japan and other Asian countries. You may not find this veggie in your local grocery store, but you may find it in specialty shops such as Asian markets. This plant is part of the mustard family and is related to turnips, bok choy and cabbage. It’s used in many types of recipes and can even be eaten raw. Komatsuma is packed with a wealth of nutrients including Vitamins A, E, B1, B2, B6, & K, potassium, calcium, magnesium and much more.

Can my dog eat komatsuna? Yes! And can my puppy eat komatsuna? Yes! In fact, your fur baby will gain health benefits from all the nutrients found in these leafy greens. While komatsuna can be eaten raw, it’s best to cook it for your pet before serving it to him. You could steam the leaves until tender, then chop it up or mash the leaves and then add to your pup’s regular dog food. What if my puppy ate too much komatsuna? Komatsuna is not known to be toxic to dogs; however, if your pup eats too many of these yummy greens he could develop digestive problems, including tummy trouble, vomiting or even diarrhea. Be sure to only serve these greens to your dog in small amounts and only occasionally to avoid possible digestive issues.
