Japanese eggplant is a smaller cousin to the regular eggplant (also called Aubergine). You’ll find Japanese eggplant mostly in Asian shops and/or farmer’s markets, and you’ll know this type because it’s smaller and thinner than regular eggplant. This veggie is becoming more popular and can be cooked in many ways and used in many types of recipes. You can eat the skin and seeds, too. This type of eggplant is packed with Vitamins B6, C & K, thiamin, niacin, and more.

Can my dog eat Japanese eggplant? Yes, but with some considerations to keep in mind. Can my puppy eat Japanese eggplant? Yes, but only in moderation and as an occasional treat. Japanese and other types of eggplant are not toxic to dogs. However, some dogs are allergic to this veggie. In addition, if your dog or puppy eating too much eggplant, they could develop stomach and digestive issues, including vomiting and diarrhea. Be sure to cook the Japanese eggplant before serving it to your dog. Only give him a small serving and make this an occasional treat, rather than a diet staple.

I will feed this to my dog soon. I enjoy it a lot with my meals. Hopefully, he’s not allergic to it.

Eggplants are amazing for dogs as long as your own dog is not personally allergic to it because some dogs are allergic to this vegetable. It’s healthy and makes an excellent addition to their meals. I’ll recommend you include it in his diet once in a while if you haven’t.

Well, that’s really not for me as my own dog developed stomach issues and was vomiting. I guess it’s really not for him. Lol

Yeah I do cook the eggplant before serving it to my dog as I know that it doesn’t look safe to feed him raw. I try to only give him a small serving but he loves it and would always come for another one. I’m trying not to make it a diet staple for him.
