Italian sweet peppers are quite common in Italian cuisine and are enjoyed for their sweet flavor. In fact, Italian peppers, unlike other types of peppers, are sweet at every stage—from unripe to ripe. You can find these sweet peppers in green, yellow or red and use them as you would other types of peppers. Italian sweet peppers are rich sources of Vitamins A, B6 and C, and more.

Can my dog eat Italian sweet pepper? Yes, your canine companion can enjoy Italian sweet peppers! He can enjoy them raw or cooked, though your pup can more easily digest them if they’re cooked. You can cook them in a little bit of oil before serving them to your dog. Can my puppy eat Italian sweet peppers? Yes, but only in moderation. If your dog or puppy ate too many peppers, he could suffer from diarrhea or even vomiting. These peppers can be added to your dog’s regular dog food—commercial or homemade.

I love peppers and eat them all the time. But I thought they might be toxic for a dog. Now that I know they’re not toxic, my dog and I can enjoy them together.

I use the Italian pepper in place of onion to spice my dogs’ food and they love it. It’s not hot or too spicy, neither does it cause them any form of indigestion. I make their own food myself and that’s why I have control over anything they get in their stomach.

Nothing beats homemade food. I stopped buying commercial food for my dogs when they started reacting to a new product I bought for them to try. I later learnt that there was foreign ingredients in it that dogs reacted to. Since then, I stopped taking chances and started looking up food on YouTube I could make for them. Though I hardly use pepper, I think this Italian sweet pepper looks like an amazing addition and I’ll try it one of these days.
