Elephant garlic looks like a very large garlic (hence the name, “elephant”), but is actually related to the leek family. It has a bulb very similar to garlic, which divides into cloves—huge cloves! Elephant garlic, despite its size, has a milder flavor than garlic. Some describe it as buttery and more similar to an onion, without the pungent flavor or smell of traditional garlic. It’s often used the same as regular garlic in a wide variety of recipes, though some people enjoy eating it raw.

I thought that since the regular garlic is not toxic to humans, this might be safe for dogs though they both don’t taste exactly the same. Thanks for this helpful information.

Garlic onions and all other stuff like that should surely be kept far away from dogs. These things do not go down well and you shouldn’t even use it to spice their meals. It’s good for you but not for them.

My dog once experienced garlic toxicity which caused him a bout of diarrhea. In fact, I didn’t even know he had consumed something with garlic which was in a wrapper paper he found and licked. For 2 days he was vomiting until I visited the vet and we found out the problem. Guys, it’s best to always check where you dump those bags that once contained foods not dog-friendly.

Mine suffered a more serious threat to his health as we spent some days recovering. It is always important to keep an eye on what our pets consume when we are home together.
