What is Korean BBQ?

Korean BBQ has become extremely popular in recent years. In fact, you can find it at restaurants or make it at home! Korean BBQ is usually done around a special grill that sits in the middle of the table. Then plates are brought that contain raw meat, vegetables and side dishes, and more. Everyone cooks their own food! How fun is that?

When it comes to meat, you can use beef, chicken, or pork. The meat may be marinated beforehand in order to lend it more flavor and make it more tender.

Side dishes for Korean BBQ may include kimchi, dishes made with spicy chili sauce, and more.

Korean BBQ & Dogs

It is possible that Korean BBQ could make a dog sick. This is because some of the ingredients used in this type of food are toxic to dogs. The main problem ingredients are onions, garlic, chili paste, scallions, etc. These foods can make dogs very sick.

Your dog could develop the following symptoms after eating Korean BBQ:

  • Diarrhea
  • Gas
  • Vomiting
  • Nausea
  • Lethargy
  • Abdominal pain & swelling
  • Weakness

These symptoms could be a sign your fur baby is having a digestive tract issue alone, or he could have developed pancreatitis, which is a serious condition.

If your dog is showing any of these symptoms after eating Korean BBQ, then it’s a good idea to call the vet right away. Your dog needs to be checked out.

In the future, it’s a good idea to follow some easy safety tips to keep your dog from getting sick:

  • Keep the dog away from spilled food and don’t allow anyone to feed him scraps
  • Use wastebaskets or garbage cans that have lids to keep dogs out
  • Keep the dog away from the grill
  • Make up pieces of meat that are not seasoned for your dog; these can be cooked ahead of time

Following these simple tips will keep your dog safe from foods he shouldn’t eat. And he will have a great time enjoying his own meat, along with the rest of the party!
