Should You Leave Your Dog In The Dark?

It’s not recommended to feed your dog a lot of bananas, however, unless he’s very athletic. This is because bananas contain high amounts of sugar that can lead to being overweight or even obese.

Can Dogs Eat Banana Peels?

While the peels are not toxic, they are full of fiber that may be hard for dogs to digest. So, it’s best not to feed your canine companion banana peels. Bananas, without the peels, are a healthy once in a while treat for your dog.

What if My Dog Ate a Banana Peel?

Your dog may develop some digestive issues after eating a banana peel. It may that he will vomit hours after eating it, or even develop nausea and diarrhea. In most cases, the peel should go through your dog’s digestive system, and come out in his poo.

However, if you are worried or have questions, then it’s a good idea to call the vet. They will be the best ones to advise you on what to do if your fur baby ate a banana peel.

Depending on the size of your dog, there’s also the possibility that the peel could become lodged in his intestines, creating an intestinal blockage. If your dog develops this condition, it can be life-threatening. In this case, then prompt medical care is needed. So, call your vet right away.

Symptoms of a Blocked Intestine

Here some of the symptoms your dog may experience if he develops an intestinal blockage:

  • Vomiting
  • Nausea
  • Loss of appetite
  • Abdominal pain and bloating
  • Constipation

If this condition is not treated right away, it can lead to death. Be sure to call your vet if your dog develops any of these symptoms.

While bananas are healthy snacks for dogs, they shouldn’t eat them too often or in large quantities. And it’s not a good idea to let your fur baby eat the peel. Be sure to keep banana peels where your dog can’t reach them.
