Rutabaga, also known as Swedish turnips, is a root vegetable that originated in Sweden (hence the name, Swedish turnips). Rutabaga is a versatile veggie and can be cooked in a number of ways—you can roast, bake or even boil this root vegetable. They’re often used in soups and stews and have a somewhat peppery taste that’s a bit on the bitter side. Rutabaga is a healthy veggie and is packed with vitamins C, E, & K, fiber, calcium, magnesium, iron and zinc.
