We’ll take a look at what Pokémon is, along with some dog names inspired by Pokémon!

What is Pokémon?

Pokémon is a video game that was developed by Nintendo. The creatures that are called Pokémon come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, and they live in the world with us. They don’t speak but do say their names. Right now, there are over 700 Pokémon who live amongst us!

The game involves capturing and training Pokémon creatures to battle with one another for sport. Human trainers are called Pokémon Trainers and they have to catch all of the Pokémon species and then compete in the national Pokedex.

Players can catch Pokémon by throwing a specially designed round tool called a Poke Ball. This captures the Pokémon, who is unable to escape and then is owned by the trainer. The Pokémon then obeys all the commands given by the trainer. That is, unless the trainer isn’t experienced, which leads the Pokémon to act on its own.

The Pokémon game has been made into playing/trading cards, board games (such as Pokémon Monopoly), and Manga and more! These creatures continue to be a very popular game and characters in our human universe.
