How You Can Find a Bernedoodle Rescue For Adoption

Finding a Bernedoodle rescue for adoption can be quite a daunting task. This is because they are hardly displaced like their other doodle counterparts. They are generally easy-going dog breeds so most owners see no reason to give them away.

This is not to say you cannot find a Bernedoodle rescue, because you can. However, do not expect to find one immediately you start searching unless you’re very lucky of course.

A lot of patience would be required on your part, but there are a few tips you can use to search for one. We will be listing out these tips below.

Contact Local Humane Groups

One of how you can find a Bernedoodle rescue is by reaching out to humane groups around your area of residence.

These groups are also known as humane societies, and their primary goal is to stop cruelty against animals. They work with dog rescues to ensure that rejected or stray dogs, both young and mature can have a chance at a better life.

Being what they are, getting in touch with them would be a great start as you search for Bernedoodle rescues. They would probably know one or two rescues and recommend them to you.

If they don’t have any at the time of your inquiry, then maintain contact with them, so that when they do, you will be informed immediately.

One of the ways by which you can maintain contact with them is by signing up for their mailing list or follow their social media pages. By doing so you will be kept up-to-date on new dogs that have been rescued. Luckily, a Bernedoodle breed may be among the rescued.

Check Shelters In Your Area

If there are any shelters in your area, then you can visit them to see if any Bernedoodle dogs are being housed there.

In case you don’t know what a shelter is, well it’s a home where abandoned, surrendered, or stray animals are kept. Usually dogs and cats.

They are also called “pounds”.

If you do not know any animal shelters in your area, then all you have to do is a quick google search to find one. Make sure you use the right keywords in your search to get the most accurate results.

For instance, if you live in Austin, Texas, you can Google search “animal shelters in Austin Texas”. A list of all the shelters around Austin will pop up. Check each of them out one by one and get their contact details (phone, email, or physical address).

Reach out to them to see if they have any Bernedoodle up for adoption. If they do not have any at the moment, do not lose hope. Just keep in touch with them so you can stay informed when one arrives.

You should also follow them on social media. Keep checking on the pictures of new dogs that have been taken in. If there is a Bernedoodle among, then you would know immediately.

Find Other Groups That Are Specifically Interested In Bernedoodle Breeds

On the internet, you can find social media groups that are interested in Bernedoodle breeds. Follow their Facebook & Instagram pages and send them direct messages asking if they know of any Bernedoodle rescues.

If they do, then they will recommend one to you.

These online Bernedoodle groups or communities usually post up pics of puppies or mature Bernedoodles, and since they are interested in Bernedoodles, they will have some useful information for you.

Once again, you need to be patient, as you may not find one immediately.

Ask Your Friends Or Family Members

Asking your loved ones for some information wouldn’t be a bad idea either, especially if they are also dog lovers.

They may have come across a Bernedoodle for adoption. If you don’t ask, how will you know what they know?

Expressing your interest in adopting one will cause them to inform you if they come across any.

Keep in mind, you are searching for Bernedoodle rescues, not breeders. So be clear to them what you are specifically looking for.

Things To Consider Before Adopting A Bernedoodle

Before adopting a Bernedoodle dog, there are some things that you may want to consider first. Being a mixed breed, you may not be used to their unique behaviors, as you have never had one before.

Consider the following factors.

Keeping Them Clean

Bernedoodles are usually non-shedding breeds, but they do have a lot of hair. While you may not have too much work to do regarding cleaning up dog fur, there is a ton of work to do in brushing their hair.

Also, their very furry nature means you will have a lot more to wash when you give them baths.

If you’re not up for such a task, then do not bother adopting a Bernedoodle.

Puppy Or Adult

Bernedoodles are very energetic dogs, they love to play and engage in other physical activities.

The puppies, however, can be considered to be very stubborn. They could annoy you at times, but this phase will eventually pass.

If you’re going to adopt a puppy, then be ready to deal with their energetic behaviors, which can be destructive to your couch, sofas, shoes, and clothes.

Attention

Bernedoodles are very attached to their owners, so you should expect them to be close to you all the time.

If you’re the type that stays away from home for long periods, then your Bernedoodle may suffer from separation anxiety.

When this happens to a dog, they express it via several means. These include howling, barking, and destroying property.

If you’ll be adopting a Bernedoodle, then be prepared to give them as much attention as they need.

Healthcare

Bernedoodles are very healthy dog breeds, but there’s something you should keep in mind. They are potential candidates for hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as allergies.

They also potentially suffer different eye problems, so consider these before you adopt one.

Training

You should know that Bernedoodles are not as easy to train as other crossbreed or purebred dogs. They are very smart and they will learn new tricks in no time. This is why you must be prepared for the hard work that you will have to do in order to train your Bernedoodle.

Before adopting a Bernedoodle, you must know that they need a lot of care and training. Potty training them is one of the things that you must do. Also, they love playing around with other dogs and running around the house. They are very intelligent dogs, so you will have to teach them how to stay calm when playing with other dogs or going for walks.

Early socialization is important to prevent Bernedoodles from becoming hyperactive. In order to prevent your Bernedoodle from becoming aggressive, you must have them in the right environment. Socialization is a very important thing for a dog.

If you are looking for a Bernedoodle rescue, then you must know that there are many rescues that have Bernedoodles available for adoption. There are several different rescue groups that offer this service to their community. However, it is very important to make sure that the rescue group is reputable and has enough experience in dealing with these breeds.

Dog owners are encouraged to be responsible in their rescue efforts. It is a good idea to seek help from rescue groups if you have any questions about the Bernedoodle breed.

Conclusion

I trust this article on Bernedoodle Rescue For Adoption has been informative.

Good luck!
