The vet may run some tests, including a urinalysis and blood work, along with some other tests. They will check the dog’s urine to see if there’s evidence of an infection or bladder stones.
The vet may also run other tests to see if the bladder issue could be caused by a more serious condition. For these reasons, it’s imperative to call the vet when your male dog has the symptoms of a UTI. If your fur baby has a urinary tract infection, the vet may prescribe an antibiotic to kill the bacteria responsible for the infection. In some cases, the vet may also prescribe anti-inflammatories to reduce the inflammation and pain that sometimes accompany a UTI.
