Can my dog eat Grape tomatoes?
Grape tomatoes are a wonderful treat in the summer, but are often confused with cherry tomatoes. Cherry tomatoes are about the size and shape of cherries, while grape tomatoes are closer in shape and size to grapes. Grape tomatoes are used in everything from salads, enjoyed roasted and more. They don’t offer as much nutrition as regular tomatoes, but do contain some Vitamins A & C, along with a little fiber.
Can my dog eat grape tomatoes? Yes, but only when the tomatoes are ripe and red, as occasional treats. You should keep your canine companion from eating any of the green parts of grape tomatoes, including the leaves and stems. The green parts of the plant contain solanine and tomatine, both of which can be toxic to dogs. Can my puppy eat grape tomatoes? Yes, but only when red and he must not eat the green parts (leaves and stems). What to watch for if my puppy or dog ate the stems and/or leaves? He could become poisoned from the toxic chemicals in the leaves and stems. If your dog or puppy has eaten these parts, then be sure to monitor for any signs of digestive problems, including vomiting and diarrhea. He may also experience tremors, seizures of loss of coordination. If this occurs, be sure to get you pup to the vet as soon as possible.

Oh wow! I find grape tomatoes so delicious and I have always wondered if I could feed them to my puppy. I’ll surely use them as occasional rewards when he learns something new. It’s interesting to have come across this!
The way my dog grabs at grape tomatoes when he’s offered has hindered me from feeding them to him at all. He wants to eat both stems and leaves at the same time. I guess I’ll just pluck them off the stems always before giving to my dog.
Amazing. I didn’t know that grape tomatoes are safe for dogs. I do buy them whenever I go to the grocery shop but I have never thought of getting extras for my dog too. Maybe I’ll start getting some for him too.
Yes, they are great and safe for your dog so you can buy it for them too. Just make sure you only give them the red part and not the green parts so they don’t have issues with their system.
I just hope my dog has not become poisoned from the toxic chemicals in the leaves I fed him. I initially gave him just the fruit but he looked longingly at the leave and I couldn’t resist giving him a bite. Maybe we’ll just visit the vet if he shows signs of anything. I’m scared right now.
Jeez! The green parts of the plant contain solanine? Okay, I think I just fed that to my dog without knowing the consequences. But he looks fine so I’m not sure if I should be bothered or not.
Whether he looks fine or not, I’ll recommend you take him to the vet especially if he consumed much of it. You never know what’s going on in their system since the part he ate can be toxic to dogs. You do not want him to come down with something later on.
Okay I’ll remember to always feed them only when it’s red. My dogs are even selective with foods they eat so I’m not surprised if I’ll struggle a bit before they will learn to love this one. Plus, I just hope I don’t go overboard and feed them too much. I definitely don’t want to have a dog with digestive problems or diarrhea.
