What are Peas?

Peas come in a seedpod, which is the fruit of the plant called Pisum sativum. Each pod of this plant contains several peas, which can be yellow or green. This is a cool-weather plant that grows in many places around the world.

Peas can be used fresh, frozen, or even canned. And they can be mixed with a wide variety of other vegetables to create flavorful dishes. In addition, peas are filled with nutrition. They include protein, vitamins and minerals—they’re packed with nutrients!

This veggie can be grown on large farms, or even in home gardens.

But are peas safe for rabbits?

Peas and Rabbits

You’ll be happy to know that peas are not toxic for bunnies! However, if rabbits eat too many, they could become sick. This is because peas contain a high amount of sugar and phosphorus, which can be bad for rabbits.

So, if your bunny likes peas, then you should only give him peas once in a while.

Serving Peas to Your Rabbit

When it comes to giving your rabbit peas, be sure to give him only fresh, green, raw peas. And never give your bunny dried peas. That’s because these can cause an intestinal blockage, which can be a life-threatening medical emergency.

Next, only feed your bunny small amounts of peas. Never feed him large quantities of peas, or even give him peas every day. Peas should only be served as occasional treats in very small amounts.
