What are No Bake Cookies?

No bake cookies are cookies that don’t need to be baked in an oven. They’re usually pretty easy to make, and they’re pretty good almost any time!

Some of the most common ingredients in no bake cookies can include:

While no bake cookies are safe for humans (in moderation), what about dogs? Can no bake cookies make a dog sick?

No Bake Cookies & Dogs

Some no-bake cookies may be safe for dogs if they don’t contain chocolate, raisins, some kinds of nuts, or other ingredients. However, even no bake cookies without these ingredients could still cause a dog to get sick. That’s because they contain sugar and fats. Too much sugar can cause digestive upsets in dogs, while too much fat may cause a serious condition called pancreatitis.

What’s more, a dog may not develop any symptoms by eating a small piece of a no bake cookie. It all depends on the ingredients in the cookies and how much your dog has eaten.

You may notice these symptoms if your dog has eaten no bake cookies that contain chocolate and other ingredients:

Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of symptoms. There are too many possible symptoms to list here. Your dog’s symptoms will vary depending on the ingredients in the cookies, how many your fur baby has eaten, as well as his size and weight.

If your dog shows any of these or other concerning symptoms, call the vet right away. This could be an emergency.

Treatment of No Bake Ingestion in Dogs

Treatment depends on your dog’s symptoms and the ingredients contained in the no bake cookies. For cookies that contain toxic ingredients to dogs, the vet will work to decontaminate the dog’s system by inducing vomiting or using activated charcoal.

The dog’s other symptoms will be treated as they arise. For instance, vomiting and diarrhea can be stopped with some medications. Some dogs may also require an IV for fluids and to administer medications, but this depends on the severity of their symptoms.

The good news is that most dogs will make a full recovery after eating no bake cookies! However, it’s best to keep these and other cookies out of your dog’s reach. You’ll both be happier for it!
