Mange tout, also known as snow peas or snap peas, are actually a fruit, but used as a vegetable in cooking and eating! Who knew! These peas have edible seed pods and make a yummy addition to your meal. The small, flattened peas are tender and sweet. They’re also described as crunchy. Snow peas are available year-round and are available in your local grocery store. Mange tout are packed with protein, fiber, Vitamins C & K, potassium, iron and magnesium. They’re common in Asian cuisine, but are also used in salads and can be enjoyed as a side dish.

The peas contain a substance called purine, which can be harmful to the kidneys. What if my puppy ate too many peas? If your puppy eats too many peas, he could end up with an upset stomach and diarrhea. So, only serve mange tout in small amounts and only once in a while to avoid these issues.
