Why do people with disabilities needs an Emotional Support Animals when traveling?
Nowadays, more and more people are choosing to go traveling in order to enjoy their free time and feel free from their daily busy schedule. However, this kind of activity is not easy to do. In order to travel with ease and comfort, one needs to get prepared for the journey. But what will help them get ready for their trip? The answer is emotional support animal (ESA). It can be described as an animal that provides emotional support or comfort by a person who suffers from mental disorder or illness.
These animals can be used as an emotional support for those who are going through depression or anxiety issues. For example, if you are traveling alone, you may have a lot of problems when it comes to handling stress during your trip.
On the other hand, having an ESA is good for you since it will give you peace of mind and make your trip more relaxing. While in the airplane or bus, many people experience motion sickness or fear being on the road due to traffic problems like slow driving or sudden braking.
However, this problem is easily resolved with the help of an ESA. This animal can be used as a calming factor and will make the passengers feel safe and secure during their trip. An ESA can also help those who are suffering from fear of flying due to fear of heights or traveling by plane.
What are their policies regarding passengers bringing their emotional support animals?
Hawaiian Airlines will only accept service animals and no longer transport emotional support animals. With these new regulations, Hawaiian Airlines currently accepts dogs as the customer’s service animals, as they believe service dogs are qualified to help people with disabilities to travel with their owners.
Currently only dogs and cats that can be considered as the service animals during the flight to accompany the people with disabilities in the cabin. Hawaiian Airlines are not considered animals with disruptive behaviors as service animals.
Any other animals that can support people with disabilities such as psychiatric dogs are allowed to travel with their owners as they share the same classifications with the service animals.
