Have you ever heard of a Frenchie Labrador? If not, you’re in for a treat! This is a relatively new dog breed that’s very loving and playful.

We’ve put together some information about Frenchie Labradors so you can determine if this is the right dog for you and your family. Let’s get started!

What is a Frenchie Labrador?

The Frenchie Labrador is a hybrid dog that comes from crossing a purebred French Bulldog and a purebred Labrador Retriever. If you know anything about French Bulldogs or Labs, you know the Frenchie Labrador is a cute, sweet, loving dog.

The Frenchie Labrador is a relatively new hybrid dog, so we don’t know much about the breed’s history. However, can take a look at both purebred parents to learn something about these adorable crossbred dogs!

Quick Overview of the French Bulldog

The French Bulldog is a small dog that originally came from England. The dogs were bred to be a smaller version of the full-sized Bulldog. These little dogs are famous for their upright bat ears and adorable facies. You can’t help but smile when you see one of these small dogs.

While the Frenchie is small, the dog is muscular and powerful. Along with their muscles, the dogs have an easygoing personality, and they’re very playful. The dogs are highly intelligent, and they train easily (but be sure to keep it fun for these dogs). They can be a bit stubborn; however, the dogs do make loving companions.

French Bulldogs crave being with their families. For this reason, the dogs don’t do well when left alone for long periods.

The Labrador Retriever

The other purebred parent of the Frenchie Labrador is the Labrador Retriever! Labs are one of the most popular dogs in the US, and that’s for a good reason. These dogs are one of the friendliest, loving dog breeds around.

Labs are highly intelligent dogs that make great working dogs. They work hard at any task they’re given, and yet they’re also quite loving. Labs help others as assistance dogs, search & rescue, retrievers for hunters, and so much more. Labs are versatile dogs that can do just about anything.

These dogs are very athletic and muscular. They sport short coats that are easy to maintain. And the dogs have a lot of energy. The dogs are also very loving and loyal to their humans and want to be with their families as much as possible.

While the Labrador Retriever and the French Bulldog may seem like an unlikely breeding pair, they do share some similarities. So, you can imagine what a Frenchie Labrador is like!

Frenchie Labradors usually stand between 16 to 18 inches tall and weigh between 35 to 50 lbs. They have a life expectancy of 9 to 15 years.

Frenchie Bulldog Appearance

Frenchie Labradors usually look like a small Lab with French Bulldog facial features. The dogs are athletic, with a sturdy build. They usually have short coats that are smooth and come in different colors, including black, chocolate, yellow, cream, white, fawn, and brindle.

These adorable canines may have Lab ears or bat-ears, like their Frenchie parent. They usually have round, dark eyes that are quite friendly and intelligent. And the dogs have a short muzzle that gives them a somewhat Bulldoggish look.

Frenchie Labrador Temperament

The Frenchie Labrador’s temperament can vary depending on which purebred parent they take after. French Bulldogs are loyal dogs that are very protective, while Labs are friendly and loving. However, we have to say the Frenchie can also be very friendly and loving, too.

Most Frenchie Labrador mixes are friendly dogs that are very loving. However, each one has his own unique personality. It all comes down to the genes they’ve inherited from their parents.

Are Frenchie Labradors Good for Families?

Yes, Frenchie Labradors are great family dogs. The dogs are great with kids and make great playmates for them. And the dogs also love to be snuggled with you on the couch when they’re done playing.

Do These Dogs Get Along with Other Pets?

Fortunately, Frenchie Labs are very friendly, sociable dogs that get along well with other dogs. They look at everyone as a friend (people, other dogs, and animals)!

Food & Diet

Frenchie Labradors are medium to large dogs that need plenty of food every day. They need about three cups of food every day, divided into two meals.

However, keep in mind that your specific dog’s food requirements may be different. The amount and type of food he needs is based on his activity level, age, and size.

In addition, it’s not possible to free-feed Frenchie Labradors. That’s because they tend to eat up everything at one time. So, you must control and monitor the amount of food they eat at each meal.

Exercise

The Frenchie Lab has plenty of energy and loves to play! They need at least 30 to 45 minutes of exercise a day. However, if they take after their Lab parent, double the amount of playtime and exercise they need.

Training

Frenchie Labradors are highly intelligent dogs; however, they can be stubborn, independent thinkers, too. For this reason, they can be somewhat challenging to train.

The dogs respond best to positive reinforcement training methods that include plenty of praise and a few treats now and then.

Grooming

The Frenchie Labrador is pretty easy to care for when it comes to their fur. They usually have a thick, short coat that doesn’t shed very much. This fact makes the dogs easy to groom.

The dogs should be brushed about once a week; however, daily brushing may be required during shedding seasons (about twice a year). This helps to control shedding. When you brush your dog, do it in an area that’s easy to clean, and you won’t have to deal with shed fur all over the house.

Some Frenchie Labs may have a face that’s more like the Frenchie. If so, they may have af old of skin on their face. This area will need special care, as dirt and debris can be caught there. In addition, if the area stays wet for long periods, this can lead to skin conditions such as skin infections or other problems. So, keep this area clean and dry.

Summing It Up

So, there you have it! Frenchie Labradors may seem like a very strange mixed breed dog. However, they are one of the most adorable hybrid dog mixes around. Frenchie Labs are highly intelligent, sometimes stubborn, but always loving and playful. They make excellent family companions.

We’re pretty sure if you adopt a Frenchie Labrador, you’ll have a loving, fun companion for years to come!
